Having Problems Playing a Video

If you are having trouble playing a video it is most likely because you don’t have the needed codecs.

What are codecs? Why you need them!
Codec short for “compressor/decompressor” or “code/decode”.

A codec is a program that can encode and/or decode a digital data stream or signal. It shrinks large media files and makes them playable on your computer.
Codecs make it easier to transmit and share these files over the internet, without them it would take much much longer to download your media files.

You need the same codec that was used to shrink(encode) the media file if you wish to play(decode) that file, unfortunately there are many different codec used today. That’s where k-lite comes in, the k-lite mega pack is the most complete codec pack I have found to date and should allow you to play just about any media file you download.

Here’s what you do;

- Make sure you delete ALL codices (codecs) you may have installed and install THIS codec pack:

(If you already have the k-Lite Mega Codec Pack then make sure it is up to date by checking when the latets version was released).

And / Or

- Try a different video player. Such as;
Windows Media Player Classic (comes with the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack)

I personally prefer to use “Windows Media Player Classic”. (with the k-lite mega pack)
But I have used both GOM and VLC in the past.
